When did you first get involved with Radiance?

I started my teaching career at Radiance when the studio first opened over 4 years ago.

What can you tell us about the upcoming Teacher Training?

I am so excited to be co-hosting the teacher training alongside Michelle V, Colby and several guest teachers. We have developed a unique and empowering Flow teacher training focused on experiential learning. The training will include dedicated time for practice teaching, learning hands on adjustments, diving into the philosophy of yoga and so much more. Students will learn to find their authentic voices and will feel empowered to teach from the heart with radiant grace.

Has your life changed as you have continued to learn about yoga and teaching?

My life has changed in so many ways since I first stepped on a yoga mat over fifteen years ago. My style of teaching has transitioned from flow to Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow, which incorporates more of a rhythmic dance to the asana movement. I am intrigued by the sound vibration and healing power of the mantras and continue to explore and study mantras. Yoga is a lifelong and evolutionary journey into the heart and soul of your being. It is a discovery of your truest and highest self. Yoga has empowered me to continue to seek knowledge of the philosophy and spiritual teachings.

What drew you to yoga?

I was initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits to help recover from an injury after racing in a Triathlon. As a life long athlete, I have always stretched before training, races and competitions. However, yoga opened up my eyes and body to not only a way of movement with breath, but also a way of living your life. What happens on the mat is only a small section of what yoga is truly all about. Yoga is a way of being and a way of living your life with your purest compassion, love and joy.

When not practicing, what else do you enjoy/work on?

Off the mat, I love spending time with friends, family and my adorably mischievous pug, Norman. I enjoy camping, hiking, biking, floating in the ocean, surfing and scuba diving. I am also a full-time student and masters candidate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. My school is in NYC and I have been commuting back and forth for two years. I have one more year of my program and look forward to graduating and setting up my practice in the summer of 2013!
