BOO!
Did we scare you?
As you prepare to celebrate Halloween this weekend, Radiance Yoga would like to suggest some fun (and somewhat silly!) poses to incorporate into your holiday practice.
These postures are great for adults and kids, so consider doing some family yoga before you go trick-or-treating, or to burn off some of those candy calories the next day!
(Scaredy) cat stretch— Give this classic warm-up posture a spooky twist by exaggerating your cat pose: tuck your tail and your head, then arch your back up high. You can even tent your fingers to create some extra lift.
(Black) Crow pose— These big birds might be a frightening sight, but this pose doesn’t have to be scary. Starting from a squat, place your hands on the ground in front of you about shoulder-width apart. Bend your elbows and begin to shift your weight forward onto your hands. Place your knees onto the back of your arms, then engage your core to lift your feet off the ground and take flight!
(Haunted) Tree pose— Halloween is no time for boring, regular trees. Make like a haunted forest and stretch your limbs out in all directions. Shift your weight on one leg, then lift the opposite foot up to your ankle, calf, or thigh. After finding your balance, lift your arms up high, stretch them out in front, or even bend at the waist and reach out to the side. You can even make scary face, if you’d like, as long as you remember to breathe!
Corpse pose— The perfect end to any practice, but especially a Halloween themed one! Lay on your back with your arms and legs wide and relaxed. Slow your breathing and practice being very still. (Still feeling spooky? You can choose to walk around like a zombie after coming out of this pose, but we leave the acting to you!)
