Jodi first discovered yoga in college in the late 1990s, but it was not until recovering from an injury almost two decades later while training for a triathlon did she come to truly appreciate the infinite gifts of the practice. She was initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits, but was soon captivated by the energetic blissful body ~ the yummy mysterious richness way beyond our epidermal coating. Jodi has found that her practice melts away the stresses of daily life in the nation’s capital and deeply nurtures the spiritual soul.
Jodi encourages students to hit the pause button of the mind to luxuriously discover playfulness in their practice while connecting to the inner child within ~ permitting one to take life and self a little less seriously. She infuses creativity into her classes, guides students on a fluid energetic voyage and gives students permission to fully surrender to the unknown. Her musical choices in class reflect an upbeat speckled mix of kirtan, instrumental drums, blues, rock and world.
Off the mat, Jodi is a board certified licensed Acupuncturist and Eastern Medicine practitioner and has a private practice (Bula Wellness) in Del Ray Alexandria. Yoga gave her the wacky courage to leave her steady and wonderful career in marketing and public relations in pursuit of teaching and completing her graduate degree in Acupuncture in NYC.
Jodi received her 200-hr Vinyasa Flow training at Tranquil Space in 2008 and her 500-hr Prana Flow training with Shiva Rea in 2012. Jodi has been a teaching mentor and teacher training facilitator. She is grateful to her many teachers and students who have heartened and inspired her life journey. Om Shanti!
