EMMA SAPP

E-RYT 200

Emma was exposed to the physical practice of yoga in her teenage years, but really fell in love with it while in college. As an achievement-oriented student, athlete, and perfectionist, Emma blazed through high school (Alexandria City HS) and her early years of college (James Madison University) unable to relax. When she sustained an unexpected injury that left her with limited mobility, she was forced to sit still for the first time in her life. Through the depression of recovery, Emma found meditation, much needed self-reflection, and eventually, a regular yoga practice. Since then, she's never looked back.
Emma loves that with yoga, you come as you are. There's no competition, nothing to achieve, and no grade to receive. The narrative shifts from conditional to unconditional acceptance, and she aims to imbue her classes with this loving message. She wants to empower her students to get curious about their internal landscape, to explore methods of self-soothing, and to make choices (both on and off the mat) that positively serve them in this moment now. Emma seeks to give students the tools to cultivate their own regular practice, and to help them feel more at peace with themselves and the world around them.
Emma got her 200HR certification for Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga online through YogaRenew, a school recognized by the Yoga Alliance.
